Back In thailand – IEL

So, I am back in Thailand, I missed green tea aka “Cha Khiaow” too much.
My first job was for IEL. An event company ran by an independent guy organizing english camps for schools. Thai kids didn’t change since I left: Lot of smile and happiness. I definitely love this country.
I mostly took video and will wait for him to edit/upload to spread the world.
Here are some pics of the English Training Camp.

A liberian wedding.

I am back in France and I am cold. A few weeks before I left Liberia, my camera was stolen and my computer passed away. A good way for destiny to tell me to go out from this country. I will miss you LIB but I will definitely come back.

I had an assignment to picture a wedding. Since I had no camera, I had to borrow one. It’s a Panasonic GH4 with a 12-35mm lens. I already used this camera for video purpose, it create wonderful slow motion. But it’s my first time I am used it for photography.
I really appreciate the silent mode, absolutely no noise when activated and I didn’t feel any difference about perfs, absolutely perfect for discretion. The big problem of this camera is the numeric noise appearing when you are in low light condition. 1600ISO start to be very bad, but still better than nothing right?

Humans of Liberia.

Humans of my world made a big survey collecting people priorities in a lot of countries of our world. I was assigned to cover the Liberian side. The two priorities for the country are always the same for all ages and all social classes: Education & job opportunities.

Check the Human Of My Work Facebook page to access pictures description and thoughts from people. There is also some similar work on the More than Me instagram page.

By the Beach – Liberia

Sun is there, people are outside enjoying mama Liberia Beaches. People doing acrobatics, and playing football/rugby since we brought a ball. Funny thing is that even if people do not really know the rules, they are acting perfectly.

Liberian Marathon

11-8-2015 was the National Marathon day in Liberia. A event that everybody is waiting for and that monopolise roads in the city of Monrovia.

Here is a sample of pictures of this hot and sweaty day, all captured with a 50mm.

Liberia – Taking out the girl from the street and into school

When I saw this job opportunity pointing under my nose, my first thought was that I really want it. Why? Because this country is known by people only for the bad reasons (civil wars, ebola decease…). For me, it was the perfect thing in both personal and professional aspect to show a different version of this country.

I worked for More Than Me NGO. Basically, MTM takes the girls out from West Point, one of the biggest slums of West Africa, and offers them a free scholarship. Katie Meyler, the CEO,  opened the first free school of the country 4 years ago. During the ebola time, MTM had to adapt its activities since schools were closed to avoid new contaminations cases. They provided ambulances to bring infected people to ETU (Ebola Treatment Units). Now, Ebola is over, more than 170 students are enrolled in the More Than Me Academy. My job was composed of various tasks such as communication videos, photographs in the slum and school, interviews of beneficiaries and school related people who lives in the slum.

Media

I made an interview of a student who made a rap video for the school. Meet Roota!

Thailand – Diving into the migrants life

That’s it.

Here in Thailand, Migrants coming from different countries (mostly form Myanmar in the case of my assignment) and are forced to work in bad conditions for a miserable salary. I worked for the Kids Home foundation, an NGO providing basic life skills such as hygiene, Thai and English lessons to migrants kids.  The Goal for this NGO is to go where the migrants people are living (mostly in slums) and check if some children are able to go to school. Kids Home will pay for scholarship and transportation.

I have been there for 9 months, mostly for a photographic work instead of making videos.
